Nintendo Confirms Zelda Switch 2 Restock After Console Sells Out

Nintendo celebrated The Legend of Zelda's 40th Anniversary with a Direct specifically about the series' upcoming products, including a brand-new, special-edition Switch 2 console—which almost immediately sold out. Fret not, for the manufacturer has promised that the Zelda Switch 2 will be restocked.

In fact, it's the entirety of The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Collection that has sold out. The Zelda-themed Switch 2, Pro Controller, and console carrying case cannot be purchased at the time of writing. Right below the big gray button on the Nintendo Store that says, "Sold out," is a notice that reads, "This item is currently unavailable. Please check back soon." The company has further clarified that the Nintendo Store app is where updates on the products' availability will be posted.

The Nintendo Store listing has been updated for some users to include a banner that says, "The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Collection is currently sold out. We will announce when stock is replenished via the Nintendo Store app," per Nintendo Insider. The Nintendo Store app, for smartphones, is separate from the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Today! apps; Nintendo's third mobile app is purely for its digital storefront.

There is no predicted timeline for when the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 will be back in stock, but Nintendo has a fairly reliable track record when it comes to product availability in recent years. Pre-orders like this often sell out, but it wasn't particularly difficult to acquire a Switch 2 around launch, and recent special edition consoles are still available via third-party retailers, including the Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED from 2023.

That is to say, anyone worried about missing their opportunity to purchase any of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Collection items will likely have plenty of chances. It may also be worth keeping an eye on various retailers, as new stock will simply be listed for purchase as it becomes available.
