What the report says
I've been playing a lot of games as always so here are my thoughts on 4 recent ones that stood out for better and for worse. Let's go, chums!Remember to support your favourite streamers and content creators for all the entertainment that they provide. 🎬Lootbound Review Xbox Series X ★★★★☆Here's a roguelike that combines lovely art with many RPG mechanics to create a decision-filled adventure that'll surely keep you organised. v1d30chumz xzyewyzteyzcLootbound is a very cool game that got its hooks in me right away. At its core, it's very much what you'd expect from a roguelike structure where you navigate a node-based map and the battle system is essentially what you'd find in a classic turn-based RPG.
Managing your health, shield, and SP as you perform a variety of skills and thin out the enemy hordes is rewarding stuff and when you recruit allies that act on their own, things get even more exciting. Plus, the inventory management system where you equip and store items by dragging them onto a grid offers a lot of strategy to enhancing your characters. For example, placing an item at the bottom of a grid or next to armour pieces may provide a huge bonus so getting everything just right is the key to optimising your team.
I also love that certain events have you make decisions then roll a 20-sided die to determine the outcome. There's so much packed in and it looks great, too, with its unique aesthetic. 🎲Mastering Lootbound involves a lot of planning and strategy and once it all clicks, mowing down monsters in its RPG battles really feels great. Lootbound gameplay video → OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek Review Switch 2 ★★★★☆Unique multiplayer games have a special place in my heart and OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek is a great one that you can enjoy with chums.First of all, OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek can be enjoyed locally with up to 4 players and online or local wireless with up to 8 players; how cool is that?!
Key details
The basic idea is that 1 player is a ghost while the rest scramble about arenas while trying not to get caught by the ghost which places players in a jail. However, players can free everyone in the jail by reaching the locks which sometimes get scattered around the arena. Both the ghost and the players have skills to use which may stun the ghost or rush ahead as the ghost. Plus, there are oodles of unlockable characters, arenas, and skills so there's a ton of variety although I wish everything could be unlocked right off the bat because, why not?
The resulting gameplay and lighthearted atmosphere result in much fun and hilarity, especially when you figure out special co-op moves. 👻OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek is such a fun-filled multiplayer game that'll keep you and your chums excitedly on the edge of your couch. Plus, the visuals are lovely in their cel-shadedness and the gameplay is impressively tight so, what could go wrong? Well, it often feels like a straight-up clone and even many moments throughout the campaign are lifted straight from Star Fox 64 to the point where it's a little embarrassing. From having 4 animal pilots to nearly identical controls and mechanics, it's a really tough game to recommend when Star Fox exists in all of its iconic glory. Sure, aiming for high scores as you try and collect all the letters in each mission can be fun but once your thumbs tell you for the 100th time, "Hey, didn't we just play through this a couple months ago?", it ends up feeling reductive and pointless.
More from the announcement
However, if you have absolutely no means to play Star Fox then, hey, it's a solid take on the classic so I guess check it out, why not? 🦊Games don't get much less innovative than Wild Blue Skies but there's no denying that it's a solidly-made game so that's cool, I guess.
