A new Nintendo Switch 2 bundle is coming to coincide with the arrival of Monster Hunter Wilds on the system. The latest in Capcom's long-running action series initially released early last year, in February, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Ahead of Monster Hunter Wids' major Ascendance expansion in 2027, it's coming to Switch 2 on December 4.
On the same day, Monster Hunter Wilds will be included in a brand-new Switch 2 bundle—in Japan only. Japanese customers can already pre-order the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 bundle ahead of its release on December 4, per GameRant. This new bundle contains a Japanese-language Switch 2 console, a digital copy of Monster Hunter Wilds, and three months of Nintendo Switch Online, which is required to play online multiplayer games on the console.
Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 Bundle Releases December 4 in Japan
Monster Hunter Wilds is arriving at the tail end of a busy few months for the Nintendo Switch 2. Exclusive co-op platformer Orbitals recently released in early September, and is being followed by Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave today (September 17). Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is coming in October, with the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time arriving in November. Speaking of Zelda and the Switch 2, theseries' 40th Anniversary console sold out almost immediately but Nintendo has confirmed a restocking.
Monster Hunter Wilds isn't an exclusive—as clearly evidenced by its release more than a year ago—but the series has traditionally had a significant audience on handheld consoles. Monster Hunter Rise saw a lot of success on the original Switch before it later came to other platforms, no doubt helped by the widespread success of Monster Hunter World before it.
After the Switch 2 launched with only one game bundle (Mario Kart World), they are becoming a bit more common. Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Pokopia have both featured in Switch 2 bundles, and it speaks to Monster Hunter's popularity that Wilds is getting its own, albeit in just one market.
Monster Hunter Wilds Comes to New Audience Before Ascendance Expansion
Monster Hunter Wilds has had its ups and downs since its initial release, mostly due to technical issues (which may be a worrying sign for the Switch 2 version), but will nonetheless see a significant expansion when Ascendance releases in 2027. Wilds has already seen some post-launch content additions, but Ascendance will be a significant content infusion, including new areas, monsters, quests, weapons, and more.
Wilds will come to Switch 2 and give players just enough time to play through the base game before the expansion becomes available. An exact release date hasn't yet been set for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, but a playable demo was on the show room floor at Tokyo Game Show 2026, so it is conceivably entering its final stages of development. Nintendo is dominating its home market, so it seems like the new Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 bundle has a good chance at success.
