Disco Elysium Successor Sets PS5 Release Date

ZA/UM's controversial Disco Elysium successor, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, has finally set a console release date, but PlayStation 5 is the only confirmed platform thus far. Originally released on PC in May earlier this year, Zero Parades was well received—though not quite as acclaimed as Disco Elysium—but largely overshadowed by the fallout of key developers being ousted from ZA/UM a few years ago.

Zero Parades was nonetheless among the first of the so-called Disco-likes to be released (Esoteric Ebb is another notable one from 2026), sporting a similar art style to the studio's previous game and involving much of the same gameplay mechanics, being something of a modern take on point-and-click RPGs. Much like Disco Elysium, Zero Parades' PC debut is now being followed by a Director's Cut upgrade as it lands on PS5 later this year.

Zero Parades: Director's Cut Launches on PS5 November 3

Zero Parades: Director's Cut will arrive on PlayStation 5 on November 3. This is so far the only console release confirmed for ZA/UM's latest RPG—there has been no announcement of an Xbox or Switch version. The Director's Cut will be added to the PC version as a free update on October 1, so existing owners will get the new content about a month earlier than new console players.

About 40,000 new words have been added to Zero Parades' script as part of the Director's Cut revamp, according to GameSpot. The Director's Cut's most significant addition is a new Dramatic Encounter called Quisach Roundabout:

“Hershel Wilk and her old friend Ramses find themselves stoned out of their minds, behind the wheel of a hijacked tuk-tuk and seemingly unable to escape the Quisach Roundabout late at night. The objective seems simple enough. Take the right exit and head home,” reads a line from the game’s description. “Fail to do so, and well… things might get existential. And possibly fatal.”

This re-release also includes a peek behind the development curtain with the new Backstage mode. Early, mid-development versions of a few levels are included in Zero Parades: Director's Cut, giving players some insight into ZA/UM's creative process and how the game transformed into its release version.

Director's Cut Ends Zero Parades' Post-Launch PC Support With Host of New Features

The Director's Cut marks "the end of post-launch support on PC" for Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, and will culminate the five months since launch with a number of new features and quality-of-life improvements. In addition to those discussed above, Zero Parades: Director's Cut also adds:

  • Re-recorded English voiceover
  • Ultrawide support
  • Photosensitivity mode
  • Colorblind options
  • Controller remapping
  • Various new accessibility options
  • Steam Deck settings
  • New outfits
  • Additional death screens
  • Inventory sorting
  • Previous conversation redaction to classify "your own history"

Zero Parades hasn't quite garnered the esteemed reputation of its predecessor, but the Director's Cut appears to take large strides in making the game more accessible and refined. Its PS5 release will be the first test to see how the game performs on consoles, and hopefully for Xbox and Switch users, those versions will follow at some point. ZA/UM has had its ups and downs in recent years, but Zero Parades' post-launch support has been significant, all leading to this new Director's Cut.
