Comedy Group Jokes About “No Physical Console” PS6

Even fans of something have to make fun of the very thing they like from time to time. Amid the tenseness thanks to Sony’s plans to kill discs in 2028, comedy group Mega64 released a sketch billed “PS6 Hardware Reveal Trailer.” Alongside it, promoting it on social media as if they had insider knowledge of some big reveal.

The video emulates PlayStation’s mythical-esque style similar to previous hardware reveals, championing new lines like “No Physical Console” and “No Physical Limits” with a new fake tagline “Imagine The Possibilities.” The video ends off with the skeptic of the trio accidentally killing their friend and learning to use his imagination.

Look, I know this is a weird thing to report on, but I found it silly, and again, I wanna stress how it’s okay to dunk on PlayStation for the decision surrounding discs and frankly, it’s a breath of fresh air since it’s a touch more creative than the normal methods people use.

I also partly wonder how many people actually got duped into thinking Mega64 had some insider access, considering even a cursory look at their socials would be dead giveaways that they’re just a comedy group. But, of course, who knows, there could very well have been at least one person who took the “leak” at face value.
